Working in West Africa:

Oil companies and contractors are always in need of manpower for their West African projects, most of time for short time missions on a rotation basis. Usually these missions doesn´t stand longer that 2 years due to the fast turn over of expatriate staff.

The requested nationalities are various (Americans, british, french, italians, canadians, etc.) and mostly depend of the culture of the employing company. South Africans are now highly requested. 

Other nationalities are indians, pakistanese, chinese, filipinos, romanians due to their high level skills and lower cost of work.

Over 90% of the staff remains local from Top Management Positions to unskilled manpower.

The Employers are oil companies, contractors and subcontractors as well as manpower supply companies.

Applicants must be very careful since a lot of Nigerian Scams (a.k.a. 419) are using oil jobs to defraud them. The fraudsters / scammers (a.k.a 419ers) will ask you to send them money through Western Union to cover your "file expenses".

Reminder: Never pay any advance fee for job application. The mobilization cost (i.e. application, filing, secretarial, visa, flights and transferts) are always part of the contract between the employer and the HR Agency. They are never to be supported or advanced, in part or in all, by the applicant. If anybody ask you for it, then it is probably a scam attempt.
